Review of film: “HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE” – This sequel concentrates on RELATIONSHIPS

Review of film:  HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE

                        – This sequel concentrates on RELATIONSHIPS  =

Rating:  9 of 10 stars (based on an advance screening).

They’re BAAACK-- & as good as ever overall.  As usual, DANIEL RATCLIFF is a HARRY-chested Wizard, & he’s in many private conversations with Dumbledore (MICHAEL GAMBON) from beginning to end...

...  RUPERT GRINT remains Harry’s best buddy Ron, & is the subject of numerous ROMANTIC attentions from various women...

Hermione (EMMA WATSON) wrestles with her own romantic yearnings, as does Ron’s sister Molly (BONNIE WRIGHT). The major new teacher & mystery is Horace Slughorn (JIM BROADBENT), whose secrets affect increasingly-violent Draco Malfoy (TOM FELTON)…

There are lots of very well-done special effects of a sorcerer nature, including more Quidditch games and “transportation” efforts. Intrigue abounds throughout the film, and there are lots of new challenges raised and in some cases answered (such as just who the “Half-Blood Prince” is)…

The end has a significant “twist” regarding major characters--  but I found the very end to be a trifle WEAK as it works to set-up the final 2 upcoming movies in a somewhat feeble narrative fashion. Altogether, tho, it’s a finely done, well-conceived & -acted enterprise.
