Report # 01 on LATINO FILM FESTIVAL: Overview
Twenty-six years ago (in 1985), a bunch of people got together to start the Chicago LATINO FILM FESTIVAL. It started off small, with just 500 people watching 14 movies that were projected onto a concrete wall rather than a screen...

... On Friday, April 1: OPENING Night, “Tribute To Argentina”, Sponsored by the Consulate General of Argentina. The film is “NO RETURN” (“SIN RETORNO”) from Director Miguel Cohan. This 106-minute movie concerns the lives of 3 men linked by a hit-and-run car accident...
... The film will start at 6 pm at the AMC River East 21 (322 E. Illinois). There will then be a Cocktail Reception and Live Entertainment down the street at the River East Art Center (435 W. Illinois). Tickets are $ 75 / or $ 65 for ILCC members.
[ ... On April 3rd, the film alone will be shown at the Century Centre (at 8:45 pm), and on April 8th at the Genesee Theatre (at 7 pm), at the “General Admission” price... ]
... On Wednesday, April 6: “BRAZILIAN Night / Noite Do Brasil”, sponsored by the Consulate General of Brazil. The film is “LOVE IS ALL WE NEED” / “NÃO SE PODE VIVIR SEM AMOR” by Director Jorge Durán. This involves a man who goes to Rio trying to find his father who’s disappeared.
... The film will start at 6 pm at the AMC 600 (600 N. Michigan, with the entrance at Ohio and Rush). There will then be a Cocktail Reception and Live Entertainment down the street at Texas de Brazil (51 E. Ohio). Tickets are $ 75 / or $ 65 for ILCC members.

... On Wednesday, April 13: CLOSING Night / Noche Mexicana. The film is “CHICOGRANDE”, by Director Felipe Cazals. This is about how U.S. troops try to capture Pancho Villa in Mexico after he invaded Columbus, New Mexico in the early 1900’s.
... The film will start at 6 pm at the AMC River East 21 (322 E. Illinois). There will then be a Cocktail Reception and Live Entertainment down the street at the River East Art Center (435 W. Illinois). Tickets are $ 75 / or $ 65 for ILCC members.

... The FEATURE films fall under the CATEGORIES (described in the Festival Schedule) of: Action / Adventure, Animation, Comedy, Documentary (including Historical), Drama (including Political), Family (1 from Puerto Rico), Surrealism (1 from Mexico), and Thriller / Suspense...
... The CLFF wants to highlight the importance of the artistic & educational value of all films. Accordingly, the Festival is noncompetitive, outside of its “Audience Choice Award” (which is determined by the filmgoers at the Fest)...

Festival Pass (12 Admissions) = $100 / or $80 for ILCC Members / Students / Seniors / Disabled.
General Admission = $11 each / or $10 each for ILCC Members / Students / Seniors / Disabled.
Special Events (as detailed above) = $75 / or $65 for ILCC Members.
Purchase at Theater Information Desk = cash only.

- Film tickets can be purchased at Box Office one hour prior to film screening
- Landmark tickets available for purchase at www.LandmarkTheatres.com - for expedited service, redeem at available ticket kiosks
- Instituto film tickets available for purchase at Box Office – cash only
Matinees & Weekend (Saturday and Sunday) =
- Weekday Matinee: General Admission film tickets $6 before 5:00 p.m.
- Matinee discount only good for Landmark Century Centre Cinema and Instituto Cervantes
Student Tuesdays
- On April 5th and April 12th = students pay half of general admission film tickets $6
- Valid student ID must be presented at time of purchase / one discounted ticket per purchase
- Film Festival T-shirt = $ 15
- Film Festival Poster = $ 5

Ticket / Merchandise Policy
- Tickets and merchandise purchased from the International Latino Cultural Center (ILCC) and participating theaters are non-refundable or exchangeable
- ILCC is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged tickets/merchandise
- Tickets are subject to convenience charges
- Valid student ID must be presented to receive student discount
- ILCC member ID must be presented at time of purchase to receive applicable discount
... Unless otherwise noted in the Schedule, all films are presented in their original language with English subtitles...
