Review of film:  ALL GOOD CHILDREN”  [ = Report # 03 on the 46th CIFF ]

                       Re:  2010  CHICAGO INT'L. FILM FESTIVAL   =
A large number of films from Europe are “co-productions”, & that’s true of the Festival film ALL GOOD CHILDRENfrom Ireland & Belgium…

…  Due to family problems, Irish brothers Dara (12 years old, played by JACK GLEESON) and his older brother Eoin (DAVID BRAZIL) are sent to France to live with an aunt...

...  Dara enjoys exploring the countryside around his rural home, and chances to meet a well-to-do English girl named Bella who’s around his age.  Bella (IMOGEN JONES) likes to flirt and play with Dara, who’s soon “smitten” with her to the point of being obsessed

…  Things go along smoothly until Bella starts becoming “arbitrary” with changeable moods, & Dara reacts poorly to that – especially when she begins to show a seeming interest in his brother…

...  The abandoned house that Dara considers “his” special spot with Bella is turned into almost an “armed camp” as Dara becomes increasingly UNREASONABLE & EXTREME in his actions, with some frightening consequences…

…  This memorable film demonstrates how there’s an amazing number of incredibly GOOD young actors working today...

...  The film is directed by ALICIA DUFFY, & entered in the New Directors’ Competition at the [2010] Fest, and I’d rate it around 7.5 of 10 stars…
