Review of film: “A.I. – ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE”
“A.I.” is the highly-touted STEVEN SPIELBERG direction of a Stanley Kubrick project about a robot boy (HALEY JOEL OSMENT) of “THE SIXTH SENSE”) given enough “ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE” that it has the emotions of wanting to be lLOVED by its initially- wary adopter mother (FRANCES O’CONNOR, star of “MANSFIELD PARK”)...
... The mother wrongly fears violent behavior by the robot boy, & drops him off in a forest, where he is befriended by a LOWER-level Lover “mecha” robot (JUDE LAW of "THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY”)...
... Alter risking destruction by misguided humans, the boy is eventually trapped in the midst of his searching for a way to become a "REAL boy", and then [is] rediscovered and "reanimated" [by the scientists]...
... Overall, this periodically-dark “PINOCCHIO Goes Futuristic” tale is a movie done with exceptional IMAGINATION. Spielberg has gathered together some excellent acting by the lead characters in a CLEVERLY-constructed, thought-provoking film experience...
... It’s been said you'll either hate or LOVE this film; that's quite likely true, but I find it to be a FINE, worthwhile piece of filmmaking. [I rate it at] 9.0 [out of 10] stars for this “Haley Joel Finds a 7th-Sense" undertaking...
